Climate
There are two seasons in Myanmar, the dry and the wet. It can be cool in the winter months of January and February, especially in Bagan and Inle Lake. Generally the climate is most agreeable.
Special events
There are always festival and celebrations happening in Myanmar. The Thingyan water festival is every April, when you are bound to be doused with water to welcome the New Year. In Shan state each November they celebrate the Balloon Festival and every month there is a full moon celebration. The Burmese are known for their Marionette skills and we will have a chance to view this ancient art at some time on our journey.
The Food
A mixture of Chinese, Thai and Indian cuisine forms the basis of every day living in Myanmar. Expect rice, lots of fresh vegetables, pork, chicken and fish. We will experience the traditional Burmese breakfast of Mohingia, a delicious fish soup with noodles and coconut milk. In Shan state we can try curries and tea leaf salad and if you are keen you can try some Mandalay Rum.
